ABOUT THE COURSE
The course is designed to give you familiarity with Philippine immigration (Commonwealth Act No. 613, as amended or otherwise known as the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940) and citizenship laws, rules and procedures, considering that this is not a specific subject taught in law schools. Thus, outside of immigration law practitioners, it is commonplace that lawyers are not familiar and/or abreast with information sufficient to provide competent advocacy service in this field.
In addition, the course likewise aims to give practical, simple and useful tips in frequent scenarios affecting international travelers in interacting with Philippine immigration, whether they are foreigners, Philippine citizens or dual/multiple citizens.
At the end of this course, you should be able to:- Enumerate visa categories in order to understand the privileges and the “do’s and don’ts” associated with each one
- Determine the various BI derogatory lists and how foreigners and Filipinos may be affected
- Identify the basis, procedure, appeal and implementation of deportation orders
- Explain how the BI administers citizenship laws as part of its mandate under EO292 or the Revised Administrative Code
- List practical and useful information on common situations encountered by Filipinos, dual citizens, and foreigners during immigration arrival and departure formalities

ATTY. ARVIN CESAR G. SANTOS
One of the younger and brilliant division chiefs of the Bureau of Immigration, Atty. Santos finished his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Santo Tomas in 1994 and Bachelor of Laws in San Beda College in 1999.
He became senior staff at the Joint Development Ventures for Peace and Progress Foundation, Inc. He also practiced law as an associate at Arcinas and Arcinas Law Offices in year 2000.
